Missed-Call Cost Calculator
What are unanswered calls costing your business? Enter your own numbers below — rough guesses are fine, and you can sharpen them later. This calculator uses only the numbers you enter. It does not pad the result with industry averages to make the problem look bigger.
The example numbers are already filled in so you can see how it reads. Replace them with yours.
Everything that rings: new customers, bookings, questions.
After hours, on a job, already on the phone. To get your real number: open last week's phone log and count the calls that rang out or hit voicemail, then divide by the total.
Your honest close rate on a real inquiry.
What one typical job, repair, rental, or booking is worth.
Leave at 100 if you are not sure. Lower it if many of your missed calls are existing customers who will try again — new customers usually just call the next business on the list.

How the math works
Calls per week × 4.33 = calls per month. Multiply by your missed share to get missed calls, then by the new-customer share and your close rate to get lost jobs, then by your average job value. That is the whole formula — nothing is added, and repeat business or referrals those customers would have brought are not counted, so for most businesses this estimate runs conservative.
A note on fixing it. Fixing this usually does not mean a new phone system or another monthly platform. For most local businesses the gap is simpler: nobody is free to answer while the work is happening, and there is no fast follow-up when a call is missed. The usual fix is a quick reply path — an instant text back to a missed caller, with a clear way to reach a real person — built on the phone setup you already have. That is the first thing a Lead & Booking Audit looks at: where inquiries come in, where they wait, and where they quietly go somewhere else.
